Within Braaten Health, Penny holds the position of Operations Director, Outpatient Services. In this role, Penny is responsible for the performance and management of Braaten Health's two Midwest Therapy Center outpatient rehab facilities, The REM Center sleep lab, Midwest Therapy's long term care team and Midwest Therapy's home health team. Penny's formal training is as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and she also holds a bachelors degree in Psychology. She has 14 of years of experience in the sleep field and 7 years in management. Her clinical background includes EEG technology, Polysomnography (sleep), and vestibular testing. Penny is also active in the creation of regulatory and privacy policy within the organization and acts as proctor for annual online training that is required for all employees in the company. Penny is still considered as clinical staff for The REM Center sleep lab although she spends limited time in that clinical role. It is not unusual to find Penny in the marketplace with physicians and their staff's introducing the services that are offered by Braaten Health and providing valuable education pertaining to Medicare guidelines and the clinical services that are offered. Penny's public speaking history is varied. She has spoken at local and regional professional meetings and at local support group meeting such as The Low Vision Support Group and The Dystonia Support Group. Topics of discussion have included: balance, sleep, QEEG, sleep and the transportation industry, vestibular diagnostic testing and objective diagnosis for ADHD.

She earned her Registry in Polysomnography  in 1999 after passing board exams.  Penny also sits as a member of the Government Affairs standing committee with the American Association of Sleep Technologist (AAST) and is a board member for the Iowa Association of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (IAET).  Penny also speaks publicly for various events on sleep, and balance, and has spoken on ADHD assessment.

Interests:

When not caring for patients at Braaten Health, she can be found traveling, reading, exploring her interest in photography, and caring for her 3 teenage children, husband of 23 years, 2 horses, 2 dogs and 2 sugar gliders.
